Dr. Simon Ogus

Dr. Simon Ogus is the Founder and CEO of independent consultancy firm, DSG Asia Limited, and regarded as one of Asia Pacific's pre-eminent economists and macroeconomic strategists. He was one of the few analysts who accurately predicted the Asian financial crisis (1997), the emerging market crisis (1998), the US housing crisis (2007), the Global Financial Crisis (2008-2009), and other bull case and bear case events.

He trained as an actuary with William M. Mercer Fraser and holds a degree in Economics from the University of Manchester, as well as an MBA in Finance from Imperial College London. For the past 25 years, he has been living and working in Hong Kong, researching and analysing the Asian economy and markets.

Dr. Ogus joined Swiss Bank Corporation as Chief Economist in 1994 and was responsible for developing and leading the bank’s macroeconomic research across Japan and Australasia. Until 1999, he was Managing Director and Chief Economist for Asia at Warburg Dillon Read.
