John Ephraim Torres (Jet) is a Global Venture Development Manager for Arowana and a member of our Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) programme. He specialises in business strategy and entrepreneurship, with a particular interest in climate-related and clean technologies. Jet provides support for hyperturnaround, hyperscale, and hyper-transformation projects across Arowana’s operating companies and global investments.
Before joining Arowana, Jet worked as a Strategy Consulting Manager at the Singapore Office of EY-Parthenon, the strategy consulting arm of Ernst & Young. Prior to that, he worked as a Cleantech Ventures Consultant for Advanced Energy Technologies, a renewable energy company based in Manila.
Jet earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of the Philippines. In 2018, he received his master's degree in chemical engineering from De La Salle University. Jet went on to earn his MBA from INSEAD in France in 2021.
Jet was born and raised in Laguna, Philippines. However, his experience working with global companies has nurtured his love for different languages. Apart from being fluent in Filipino and English, Jet is steadily growing his command of the German language.
Despite his background in science and engineering, Jet had always known he would be in business. This inspiration led him and four friends to co-found an education company, which he considers his proudest achievement to date. He played a key role in scaling up the company, focussing on its strategy, finance and operations functions.
