We Grow People, Companies, and Value

Arowana is an award winning global B Corporation that has a number of operating companies and investments, including in electric vehicles, renewable energy, vocational education, technology and software venture capital, and impact asset management.

We invest in, and operate enterprises that serve a real purpose–working directly with companies that have a positive impact on all stakeholders. We do not critique from the sidelines, nor do we disengage from the businesses we invest in when the going gets tough. Instead, we tackle challenges alongside founders and management teams, with an understanding that growth follows a non-linear trajectory.

Our team is an uncommon mix of operational, financial, and technology engineers with real life entrepreneurial experience that know how to create value from multiple dimensions for our businesses.

  • "Arowana has provided me with a unique opportunity to learn and experience being an investor-operator -- providing us with a solid foundation on how to identify good investment opportunities and how to drive value creation for our portfolio companies. The firm stays true to its belief that "for a company to grow, its people must grow". Every quarter, Arowana provides curated learning events to improve the financial, operational, and technological literacy of the team. Besides these quarterly events, I have had the opportunity to learn from working alongside high-performing individuals, who have also inspired me to be resilient and to embrace adversity and continuously grow."

Jenny Destacamento, former Investment Manager, Arowana (Manila)

  • "As a leadership team, we value the fight in the trenches ‘navy seals’ modus operandi of the Arowana team who have always been ready to parachute in when needed and engage with us on a weekly basis. This is a refreshingly differentiated approach in contrast to the ‘seagull’ fly in monthly for board meetings engagement model."

Sean Steele, former CEO, EdventureCo (Brisbane)

  • "I experienced first-hand the dedication that Arowana had for the development of its people. The firm hosts a quarterly Circle of Leadership during which all portfolio companies and Arowana investment professionals share experiences, insights and best practices. The Arowana team was also taken to Silicon Valley to see what companies were getting up to over there. I was supported by and have learned a lot from the strong culture of mentorship within the organisation. In particular, during my time at Arowana I learnt a lot about the importance of resilience, humility and creative thinking as an investor."

Rahim Chunara, former Investment Director, Arowana (Sydney)

  • "Experience gained with Arowana has allowed me to have my own company and see it grow at double digit growth."

Michael Hokin, former Director, Aevitas Group Limited (Newcastle)

  • "Arowana introduced the Rockefeller Habits, and that made a huge difference to Thermoscan, streamlining our meetings, processes and strategy sessions - Execution is key in a high-volume business such as Thermoscan and Mastering the Rockefeller Habits / Scaling Up strategy helped maintain this."

Kelly Alcorn, General Manager, Thermoscan (Brisbane)

  • "Partnering with Arowana was the best decision I have made for the business and my family."

Peter Stahlhut, CoFounder, Evolution Traffic Control (Brisbane)

  • "Arowana introduced HRM to the Rockefeller Habits and it helped the various teams to be galvanised around sales targets, attendance targets and launched a number of new projects to help grow the business significantly."

Kavery Ayahsamy, Managing Director, HRM Asia (Singapore)

  • "Arowana has been instrumental in assisting to establish solid foundations for EdventureCo. They have provided sound support and made a material contribution in areas such as financial management and reporting, execution rhythm, staff recruitment and onboarding, M&A strategy and execution, market intelligence and research as well as technology applications."

Sean Steele, former CEO, EdventureCo (Brisbane)

  • "I'd say the most enjoyable and valuable experience I gained during my years as an executive at Arowana was the pace and quality of learning there. Every day presented opportunities to learn about different aspects of operating and investing in businesses – an experience that continues to be incredibly valuable in helping grow the startup business I'm now involved in. I'm proud to be an Arowana alumnus."

Kent Kwan, former Executive Director, Arowana and Co-Founder of AtlasTrend (Perth)

  • "Arowana makes significant learning and development investments in all staff with a focus on technology literacy. As an investor, this has particularly helped me in understanding how new technologies are transforming traditional industries, whilst it has also expanded my capabilities in sourcing and analysing alternative data when conducting investment research. Ultimately, this assisted in identifying and investing in companies with attractive prospects that the market had overlooked, contributing to CVF’s 9.7% p.a. outperformance of the ASX200 Accumulation Index during my time as Co-Portfolio Manager & Analyst (May 2015 - Nov 2019)."

Ben Wolrige, former Co-Portfolio Manager & Analyst, CVF (Sydney)

  • "I have very much appreciated the opportunity to both contribute and learn, and certainly the relationships with all of you made the experience even more fun and rewarding. While there are many challenges ahead, I am confident that both the VivoPower and Arowana teams have what it takes to be successful and I wish you the very best in that endeavour."

Art Russell, former interim CEO and CFO, VivoPower (London)

  • "Our team has shared a close working and commercial relationship with the team at Arowana in bringing 1this greenfield port infrastructure project to operational completion.  The combined group has collaborated to work through the hurdles of a new start up infrastructure entity and the recent global challenges posed by COVID. We are extremely appreciative of the support from Arowana."

Freddy Bartlett, Managing Director, ICAM (Adelaide)

The team at Arowana are unique in that they are incredibly knowledgeable and have a diverse skillset - I have learnt so much from working alongside them. Arowana also has a strong focus on training, and hosts quarterly events that include interesting topics (AI/ML & cyber-security), as well as external courses that support your individual career path. I am proud to have worked at Arowana, grateful for the skills I have gained and excited to watch the company grow."

Dale Slater, former Investment Analyst, Arowana (Sydney)

  • "Arowana’s greatest strength is its deeply instilled organisational culture. The whole team from senior management down to analysts live and breathe the mission and vision of the company. This is validated by its B Corp status and focus on proliferating impact in all aspects of its businesses. It is a fast-paced, exciting company to work with, that is a mix of start-up culture with traditional business acumen."
